Ella-Rose Rayner

Ella-Rose Rayner is a dynamic composer and improviser who is continuing to evolve her craft. With a musical style that is inherently personal and melancholic, people who listen to Ella’s compositions will also find that are able to heavily relate to the music in the context of their own lives. Currently studying at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Ella-Rose has entered into her final year. During her time at RBC, she has had the privilege of being mentored by Dr Kirsty Devaney.

Beginning her musical journey at the age of seven, Ella’s creative process is deeply rooted in improvisation, often blending her skills on both flute and piano to craft unique, expressive works.

Her musical influences span a wide range of genres, from the cinematic intensity of Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean to the introspective minimalism aspects of Ludovico Einaudi. She draws inspiration from diverse styles and areas of music including film and TV, solo flute compositions, small ensembles, arrangements, and more.

Throughout her time at RBC, Ella has been involved in numerous projects, collaborating with distinguished musicians and ensembles such as the Bozzini Quartet, flautist Rowland Sutherland, the Thallein Ensemble, and the Romantic Revival Orchestra. Additionally, she has ventured into interdisciplinary work, contributing to media projects alongside film students from Birmingham City University, showcasing her versatility and ability to merge music with visual storytelling.

Biography

For her final year project, Ella is working on her album of original compositions and improvisations, set to be released on 1st May. This album will be a testament to her evolving voice as a composer and her dedication to pushing the boundaries of contemporary music.

With her diverse musical palette and collaborative spirit, Ella-Rose is poised to make a significant mark on the music world.
